The Power of Cluelessness – A Story In Three Parts

For as long as the show has aired, Big Brother fans have thrived on the trope of “the clueless Houseguest.” Some of our favorite moments of the show have been the Houseguest caught unawares, not realizing what was going on until the moment was too late. In the last three weeks of Big Brother 19, the season has had example after example of clueless play and strategy based upon a lack of information.

It’s fun enough when it results in an eviction; it’s even better when it defines an HoH week.

You Better Not Miss

There is an old adage, made popular by Omar Little in the HBO show “The Wire” that goes “You come at the King, you better not miss.” This, simply put, means that if you are going to make a big move you need to make sure that it will be successful as much as you possibly can. The entire run of this current season of Big Brother can be summarized by that quote, when one examines the play so far. Twice, two different people have targeted major players. In one instance, the target was removed.

The failure of the other, however, set the stage for the early part of the season and doomed Cody to an early exit.

Summer’s First Fall

Every season of Big brother, there is that inevitable first blindside of the season. Someone is nominated that doesn’t expect to go home, and their departure turns into a storyline that ends up with ramifications for the remainder of the season. Going into tonight’s vote, those of us on the outside knew Christmas would be safe with at least 7 votes to keep her in the House.

No one, however, told this to Cody, Jessica or Jillian.
