Rachel Gets Her Puppy Back

Shelly’s return of Rachel’s stuffed dog was very telling last night. When Kalia came in to the bedroom Rachel mentioned the dog to try to get a guilty reaction. It did make Kalia a little nervous, but she didn’t say a word about the dog. Shelly obviously knew where the dog was and did one of her patented “I’m a fun mom” moves with the whispering thing. Sounded like she stuck her little dog through the doorway to tell them.

Rachel’s only reaction was to note that Shelly told her where the dog was and Kalia didn’t, she didn’t respond emotionally at all. Live feed fans weren’t happy about that, but it demonstrates that Rachel’s thinking about how she shows up to everyone else a lot more than she did a few weeks ago. However, she still tends to over-think and over-analyze, not nearly as much as Brendon, but still more than most. That’s why she majored in Chem.

I Love Big Brother

Shelly has done a real number on this house. I can’t figure out if she’s a horrible player or a great player. I mean, there’s a difference. A horrible player is someone who lies too much, forgets details, someone who is sloppy with their game play. A good game player is someone who’s done all that on purpose to completely brainf*ck the others into a whirlpool of indecision and back-stabbing insecurity. It is very possible Shelly knows exactly what she is doing and hasn’t been sloppy at all. It’s very possible she’s like this in real life as well. Do I care? No. Live and let live. Karma baby. And it is just a game. As far as all us watchers are concerned, it’s just a game. Repeat that. Anyone could win. Yay. It’s just a game.

Shelly & Adam Nominated

As expected after Rachel’s Veto win, she took herself and Jordan off the block and the duo of Adam and Shelly were the replacements. The only people who can vote this week are Jordan, Rachel and Kalia, and Shelly is on the bad side of at least two of the three and Kalia is suspicious of her but is aligned with both Porsche and Shelly since last week

Shelly seems to be feeling the nomination pressure most, since she burned bridges with two-thirds of the voters. She’s been concentrating on getting back on Jordan and Rachel’s good sides.  Adam however, has continued to be as happy-go-lucky as usual, knowing that if he lays low he will most likely have the votes to stay. He has given his word to Jordan that he will stick with the remaining Veterans if he stays ‘If you have any doubt, then vote me out’, he told her. If nothing changes in the next few days Shelly will be on her way to the Jury House on Thursday.

Rachel Wins Endurance Veto

Yesterday’s surprise opening of Pandora’s Box paired up the remaining houseguests before nominations and gave the HoH “duo” of Porsche and Kalia $5,000 each. Jordan and Rachel, the two remaining Veterans, were nominated for eviction as a duo by Porsche. Because of the Pandora Duo twist, a nominee winning the veto would save both nominees, removing them from the block together.

Rachel hung on for a victory late this afternoon in an endurance-style Veto competition. She and Jordan will be safe for another week. The only remaining duo, Adam and Shelly, will replace them on the block during Monday’s Veto Ceremony. With the numbers in the house dwindling, only two votes are needed this week to send someone to Jury, so power shifts to the Veterans.

Shelly is the most likely to leave, having burned her bridges with Jordan by evicting Jeff and siding with Daniele last week. She hasn’t been on Rachel’s good side in a long while. Shelly has never tried to mend fences with Rachel, being confrontational and sometimes openly hostile. She even went so far as to steal Rachel’s stuffed puppy from her bed.

Directly after the feeds returned, Adam was already jokingly pleading to Rachel and Jordan for their vote. Shelly, knowing her likely fate, turned in frustration to bitter insults and accusations towards Rachel, her favorite target.

Chaos In The House

This is when it all falls apart. It’s because of the slop, the cold showers, the lies, the house stench, the days that turn into nights, and the gradual slip of reality. All of it begins to numb at your brain, erasing who you are and what you know.

But the good news is you might win $500K. And that’s what people keep telling themselves when they have to get up every morning in the Big Brother house. Though I think at this point money goes second to pride. There’s some real shoving going on in there, and I think just about everyone is ready to prove themselves. Rachel hates losing, but sometimes she fights so hard it goes beyond the game. She could never concede to anyone, for anything, and that makes her a great player but a huge threat.

Rerun Week

In the history of Big Brother, there have been few HouseGuests that have managed to come back into the game in the same season. Big Brother has only performed the Revive-a-Player move in four seasons. Twice, the returning player has managed to last more than a single week. BB3’s Amy was the most successful, and she only got to Fourth place. Oftentimes, the returning player is seen as a “major threat” that “must be sent packing.”

The problem with a returning HouseGuest, of course, is that the rest of the house loses whatever momentum had been building. Energy must now be spent in getting the returned player back to whence they came, and in that sense the week they go is lost. Based on this logic, it is easy to see why Danielle’s own analysis was that the last two weeks were a failure.

Second Verse Same as the First

All things considered, this week is very similar to last week. We have two couples in the house, Brenchel is in full effect and Lawon is contributing just as much now as he did all season. Lawon’s departure from the game was not surprising given the antics of the HouseGuests in Week 5, but Brendon’s return with over a million votes cast in his favor was a shocker to those online. Many (including this blogger) assumed that the vote would come down to Cassi and Dom. Clearly, we were mistaken.

In retrospect, however, this isn’t much of a surprise at all. There are two things that Big Brother fans adore more than anything- drama, and stupidity. Brendon’s return provides the drama. Unfortunately, Kalia provided the stupidity in spades this week. Kalia wasted the week, lost an ally and put in a weak competitor against a strong returning game player. Part of this is not her fault- the HouseGuests had no idea that former players would return, and putting Lawon in against a returning Brendon was unforeseeable. Still…

Kalia Me, On The Line!

A newbie finally won HOH, when in a strange sort of psychic pattern, Kalia answered questions on last Thursday night’s quiz like Ralph Fiennes in the movie Quiz Show. Everyone was thrown off track, including Rachel who promised to avenge Brendon’s eviction.

Then came groveling visits to the HOH room. Rachel made a special appearance, looking very plain sans makeup. She repeatedly used the word respect in regards to Kalia’s win and game play, “I respect you. I really, really respect you.” Yet just a few hours before, Rachel had no respect at all for the sex blogger. I guess when your ash is on the line, anything goes. Frankly I was glad to see Rachel fighting to stay. I was beginning to worry that she had given up. Not so!

In a surprise twist, Jordan was the one who showed some rebellion. She got in Kalia’s face in response to being told Jeff would be a pawn. The reason being that Jeff would win Veto, take himself off the block, and somehow Rachel would go home. It didn’t make any sense, but that’s almost what happened. Jeff won the veto, but Lawon went on the block and appears to be targeted for eviction.

Daniele’s father denounced her game play endlessly this week. He was correct in his assessment, but it doesn’t take a genius to see why a rift has formed in the Donato family. Maybe he could learn to tame his words just once for his own blood, because what he’s doing now sure doesn’t work.

Back to Kalia. Rather than serving her HOH rein in a calm, strategic manner, she wasted time with emotional reasoning. She completely forgot that no matter who she evicts this week, they might come back to haunt her on the very same evening. She made a total mess of it, and I predict a wild show tonight. No matter who comes back, they’ll be all about respect and intent on revenge.

Lawon Goes Up

Jeff took himself off the block earlier this morning. Unbelievably, Lawon volunteered to be the replacement nominee, so Kalia put him on the block. Lawon is under the mistaken impression that if he’s evicted, he’ll walk right back into the game. Trusting Shelly is the worst move that Kalia could have made.

Daniele and Kalia plan to ambush Rachel on Thursday and offer a deal for her to stay. Kalia openly wonders if that’s a good idea saying, “But what if Shelly and Adam make a deal with her first?” So sorry Kalia, it’s already been done. No doubt about it, the first time a noobie won HOH has been, and will continue to be, packed with drama.

Lawon Wins Big Brother Darwin Award

The last twelve hours have had some of the strangest twists & turns ever to occur on any of the thirteen Big Brother seasons. Shelly got the ball rolling with a masterful mental control move on Kalia. It worked far more powerfully than Shelly might have hoped, because at the end of the night Kalia had screwed herself and Dani into the ground, to the point of oblivion.

Worse, Lawon volunteered to make a suicide move without blinking, in fact he’s happy about it. Darwin’s theory depends on people as foolish as Lawon removing themselves from the gene pool, and he epitomizes the process. The pertinent Tweets are below, mostly in sequence, as the deal went down. All by @bbchatter unless otherwise noted.
